| Bio: | I’d like to think of it as something germane to the sunlight, or to the fog as it lifts however slightly from the earth. I’d like it if the magnolia blossoms in this town were more akin to those back home, wracked as they are by these schizoid seasons. I’d like to see it — the morning, for what it’s worth, the sign of it — as something other than the mere fecklessness of the cold, other than the aching fatigue and the fear of illness that keeps me awake as the fog moves in overnight, through the time no poem can enact. I should know better, but I don’t. I spent so many of those nights leading myself through the mazes of the streets, looking for a light turned on in a window to tell me I’m not the only one awake, waiting for the hint of a definition in the fangled lapis behind the treeline or the roseate clouds above the city — and God how I learned to love that humid air. I made those river-streets the map of myself and now, as far out as I am from center, I am drawn back to it; I am its husband; bereft though it is of what I gave to it — | |||||
